Don't arrive in July expecting Strawberries. Timing is everything.
January - March: The Strawberry Peak
This is the Golden Season. Strawberries are ripe, red, and juicy. You can walk into farms and pick them.
Also available: Winter Carrots, Cabbage, Cauliflower.
April - May: The Fruit Orchards
As summer warms up, the tree fruits ripen.
Look for: Peaches, Plums, and Pears. The weather is pleasant, perfect for orchard walks.
June - August: The Monsoon Crops
Heavy rains. Not for fruit picking, but the time for leafy greens and root vegetables. The hills are lush green.
September - November: The Garlic & Orange Season
The famous Vattavada Garlic is harvested.
Late Oct/Nov: The Orange harvest begins. These are smaller, sweeter loose-jacket oranges unique to the hills.
