The road to Vattavada is not open 24/7. It passes through a protected National Park.
To reach Vattavada, you must drive through the Pampadum Shola National Park. The Forest Department strictly enforces entry timings to protect wildlife.
Timings
OPEN: 6:00 AM
CLOSE: 6:00 PM
If you reach the checkpost at Top Station after 6:00 PM, you will not be allowed to enter. There are no exceptions. You will have to turn back and sleep in Munnar.
Entry Fees
You need to purchase a pass at the checkpost. Keep cash ready.
- Vehicle Fee: Approx ₹50-100 depending on vehicle type (Car/Bike).
- Passenger Fee: Nominal fee per person.
- Camera Fee: Extra charge for professional cameras.
Forest Rules
- No Stopping: You cannot stop your vehicle inside the Shola forest stretch except at designated viewpoints.
- No Plastic: Plastics are strictly banned. Do not throw bottles.
- No Horn: Honking disturbs the elephants and bison often found on this road.
- Speed Limit: Drive slow. Wildlife crossing is frequent.
