Vattavada is one of the few places in Kerala that remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. As visitors, it is our responsibility to ensure it stays that way for future generations.

The Fragile Ecosystem

The Shola forests of Vattavada are unique. They are home to endangered species and play a crucial role in the water cycle. Careless tourism can cause irreversible damage.

5 Ways to Travel Responsibly

1. Say No to Plastic

Vattavada is a plastic-free zone. Please do not bring single-use plastic bottles or bags. Carry a reusable water bottle; we provide filtered water refills at the campsite.

2. Respect the Locals

The farmers of Vattavada are welcoming, but please respect their privacy. Do not walk into private fields without permission and always ask before taking photos of people.

3. Save Water

Water is precious in the hills. Keep your showers short and reuse towels. Every drop counts.

4. Stick to the Trails

When trekking, stay on the marked paths. Stepping off-trail can damage fragile plant life and disturb animal habitats.

5. Support Local

Buy vegetables from the local market. Eat at local tea shops. Your money goes directly to the community, not to big corporations.

Our Commitment

At Gypsys Paradiso, we use solar lighting, compost our food waste, and employ staff from the local village. When you stay with us, you support sustainable tourism.

Travel isn't just about seeing new places; it's about leaving them better than you found them.
